Ground-mounted PV system for the Duisburg Gateway Terminal
The Duisburg Gateway Terminal (DGT) is set to become the largest container terminal in the European hinterland. As part of the enerPort II project, we contributed to making the Port of Duisburg climate-neutral.
Challenge
The goal of enerPort II is climate-neutral port operations. To achieve this, a battery storage system, an electrolysis plant and a ground-mounted PV system are being installed, among other things. We delivered the ground-mounted system – on an area that previously served as a coal island for storing power-station coal.
Solution
Surplus solar power is stored directly in the neighbouring battery storage system or converted into hydrogen in the electrolysis plant. In this way, a formerly fossil-fuel section of the port becomes a building block of the energy transition.
